What to Expect
Join us as we embark on a musical adventure together!
In our FAMILY classes, your child won’t be expected to sit still and listen unless that’s their personality! Children have many years ahead of them where they can take structured music lessons. At this age, we put a high value on allowing all personalities to experience music in their own way whether they’re walking around, jumping, sitting or staring. This is how young children learn best. THROUGH UNINHIBITED PLAY! We explore different languages & cultures. . . .use fun instruments & props. . . . sing super silly songs. . . .and we explore our voices! Our classes include ages 0-5 because we can all learn something from watching and interacting with others. We end our classes with an energetic free dance, a cuddly lullaby time and then we sing goodbye.
Siblings who are younger than 9 months attend family classes for free with their older sibling and siblings 9 months and older attend at a discounted rate. Family materials (CDs, songbook, newsletter & developmental information) are included when you register for the semester! Music Together classes function on a 3 year cycle using 9 different sets of music, so when you stay with us for the long haul, you will have a large collection of fun songs that your child and family can enjoy for years to come!
Besides the obvious goal of making music together, we want to foster an environment of community within our group. Our hope is that our families will connect with each other, plan play dates and make forever friends. The class size for our Family classes are capped at 12 children to maintain the integrity of our music making model. Moms, dads, aunts, uncles, grandmas & grandpas (and even our nannies) are an important part of our classes. We want you to get up and groove with us too!
We also offer SUPPORTIVE FAMILY classes which are specifically geared toward families who have children with special needs. These classes are smaller in size with a maximum of 6 children, and while the class content is the same as our regular family classes, we allow more flexibility in order to accommodate children who might need more repetition, less stimulation and quieter music. These classes are taught by the director who is also a music therapist.
***Children with special needs are welcome in any of our classes!***
Just let us know if there is anything we can do to accommodate you better!
